Customising fashion with YR STORE interactive service
Fashion and interactivity in personalised clothing are brought to a whole new level with YR STORE’s interactive service using Epson’s digital textile printers. Customers to the store can choose to design quality personalised clothing on easy-to-use touch screen terminals, which are then printed on Epson’s dye-sublimation printers while they wait.
At YR STORE in Topshop, London, customers can design their own t-shirts, sweatshirts, vests, dresses, crop tops, flip flops and phone cases on a touchscreen kiosk in-store. They can select from available patterns, insert over their choice of clothing or item, resize and change the colours to suit their fancy. Once the design is finalised, the item of choice is printed on the spot with an Epson F-series dye sublimation printer.
Quality prints in just a few minutes
The SureColor printers are easy to use and are operated by just one person. Once printed on transfer paper, the design is transferred onto the garment using a heat press. T-shirts are printed using Ultrachrome DS ink for outstanding image quality, and are ready to go within minutes, much to the delight of satisfied customers.
A Unique in-store experience
The store has indeed captured the advantages of digital textile printing to deliver a new and unique experience to consumers. YR Store founder Tim Williams says, “YR Store works with brands, retailers and agencies to create and deliver unforgettable, interactive, immersive experiences for consumers.”
Creative collaborations with fashion brands are part and parcel of what they do. YR Store has also collaborated with A Bathing Ape in a pop-up store at Selfridges in London, where iconic patterns can be printed on the SureColor SC-F2000 direct-to-garment (DTG) printer.
Bringing a fun and creative element to corporate events, YR STORE printed over 180 customised t-shirts on an Epson DTG printer in one day at a Nike pre-World Cup event in London. On a larger scale, they printed almost 1,200 t-shirts for the Google Creative Sandbox at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity with an Epson dye sublimation printer. The Sandbox provided visitors with a range of fun activities and aimed to be an immersive experience built to inspire and involve.
Indeed, the world of personalised clothing is the future. Tim Williams highlights, “YR believes the future of fashion is in carefully curated live garment creation. Working with Epson technology means we can provide the highest quality product in a super-fast time, offering customers a great retail experience and their own unique garment.”
